A rare and early Native American Skookum
Doll
The dolls were created with a gaze that is always off to one side or the other. Interestingly the doll has glass pin eyes.
The eyes gazing to the left represents represents misfortune where as the eyes gazing to the right is health and fortune.
Interestingly enough the dolls heads were usually made from dried apples and stuffed with twigs and leaves.
There are remnants of wood underneath the slightly deteriorated cloth
